Today, LinkedIn launched a new feature targeted towards high school students: LinkedIn University. This allows students as young as 14 to sign up, create a profile, and interact with University Pages. The original story can be found here.
“We believe University Pages will be especially valuable for students making their first, big decision about where to attend college,” says LinkedIn’s Christina Allen.
The new pages allow students to tap into the network at a school they’re considering, ask current students and alumni questions, and explore the career path of graduates from the University for an idea of what they can expect after receiving their degree.
Currently, there are 200 universities signed up for this program, with thousands more promised. Do you think students as young as 14 will recognize the usefulness of LinkedIn as a networking tool, or will this be yet another failed feature?
